2 Brothers Syrah Reserva 2005
As a way to honor the memory of their mother, this wine was created by two brothers, Alex, a wine importer, and Erik, a tattoo artist. The pair lost their mother, Liliana S. Bartholomaus, to cancer in 2000. With their combined talents, they decided to label and bottle their own wine and donate the proceeds to a good cause. Together they created 2 Brothers Winery and Big Tattoo Wines. For every bottle sold, 50 cents is being donated in the name of Liliana S. Bartholomaus to charities benefitting the community where the wine is sold. Introduced in the Winter of 2002, donations from Big Tattoo Wines have surpassed $850,000. The 2 Brothers Reserve wines are new in 2007. It is the goal of these wines to reach a wider audience and ultimately help to raise even more money for our charitable partners. Big Tattoo Wines added the 2 Brothers line in 2007 in order to expand the projects reach. Donation funds raised will surpass $1 million in mid-2007. With the addition of the 2 Brothers wines, the winery hopes to donate another $1 million by the end of 2009.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Western portion of the Colchagua Valley and enjoy a large difference in daytime and night time temperatures during the maturation period. Breezes from over the Andes also aid in cooling the vines, but are not harmful in any way. The deep soil is structured in such a way to allow for good drainage.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of dark and exotic fruits accompanied by an element of spice gives way to flavors of black berry and raspberry finishing with mocha and chocolate integrated with the smooth texture and sweet tannins.
